Ok I finally got my hands on an authentic Helios RDA. The Helios is made by “Vape Head Origins”, makers of the “Titan” and “Cronus” mechanical mods. A while back I reviewed a Helios clone from fasttech, well I will let you watch for yourself but suffice it to say I was not pleased. I will say that there have been other Helios style clones released since then but I haven’t tried them.
IMO the Helios has 2 main features that make it stand out from the sea of atomizers currently available….
1. A 4 post design- allowing for quick and easy installation of dual coils (even quad coils), far easier than the 3 post design of pretty much all other drippers.
2. Adjustable air flow, The top cap has a knurled ring that can be moved to cover or expose the some or all of the 4 air holes. This allows the vaper the freedom to adjust for a tight or loose draw and to be sure the coils inside have sufficient air flow.
These two features put more control/flexibility in the hands of the consumer and I think that is killer. I think more atomizers should have these features to be honest.
As far as build quality. The base, posts and 510 threads are all very solid and well built. I will admit while the air control ring functions as it should, the top cap itself feels a bit light and is made of fairly thin metal compared to other, far less expensive atomizers.
The Helios by VHO doesn’t come cheap though. It’s listed well over $100 and is simply not a logical purchase for the vast majority of vapers. But, if you are a “quad” builder, can’t seem to be happy with 3 post drippers or need adjustable air control…. The Helios may be just what you have been looking for.
The knurled ring comes in a variety of colors, with or without the clear section on the top cap like mine. The Helios by VHO is available domestically at:
